April 7, 2026 Tuesday

We began the day with emptying our PO Box and then unpacking and washing. We had a lot to do in preparation for David’s mom’s funeral. We had to have several items to the funeral home by 1:00 this afternoon. On the way we were still making and receiving calls trying to find the people we needed for the service. By the time we arrived we had everything in place. Once we had taken care of the details David wrote a check to cover the outstanding balance for the funeral and interment.

After the trip to the funeral home we went back to David’s mom’s house to meet up with David’s middle brother. We discussed some of the details of the funeral and other things that would have to be taken care of in the near future. He headed to work so we went back to David’s brother’s house to do some more laundry and get a little snack. After our snack we left for a visit with David’s dad so that we could update him on how preparations were going. We also had not seen him since early March. He was glad to see us and appreciated the information and the visit. He also enjoyed the pics and videos of the twins. When his dinner arrived we returned to our laundry once again. Around 6:30 David’s brother got home from work and we talked briefly before he went to visit with their dad. We made plans to meet his brother over at their mother’s house for dinner.

Around 7:00 we made the short drive to the other house and started up the grill to grill some steaks. Not long after we had everything ready David’s brother came in. We had a decent meal and then spent a good while discussing some things concerning their mother and the upcoming events. After David’s brother left we got the trash out and made sure everything was cleaned up from dinner. We then went to the closets to find David’s dad something to wear for the funeral. We got out a black jacket and several pair of black slacks. We may have to go buy a new shirt but we are still hoping one of the ones we found will work. We will have to buy him some shoes as well. Tomorrow we will look through the items we found and take some to David’s dad for his thoughts and approval. Also tomorrow we meet with the preacher about the service. David and his brother had earlier discussed this as well.

At about 9:30 we went back to David’s brother’s house to finish another load of laundry. About that time we also sent a text to our son to get an update on the twins. Today it was all good news. Mom, dad and baby A went home this afternoon. Baby B will be staying at least until Saturday while they monitor some of her vitals for possible new episodes. As of this evening it had been about 42 hours since her last problem. It is everyone’s prayer that they will both stay healthy and be home together soon.

In the middle of all of this our younger son has interviewed for a new job. Today was his second interview. They are supposed to offer the job to either our son or the other finalist tomorrow. Hopefully things will work great for him either way.
