April 5, 2026 Easter Sunday

The ship arrived at the dock around 6:00 am. Our time to disembark was between 8:30 and 8:50 and we were curbside by 8:55. They scared us with warnings about lengthy wait times for customs and immigration but those fears were unfounded as the process was smooth and expeditious. They did not use facial recognition but there were several agents and they kept things moving along.

Getting our Lyft ride was a different story. In fears that customs would take too long we moved our ride to 9:45. Even though our driver was late, setting up the ride before hand was a smart idea. Our ride to the airport cost us $100 or $120 including tip. Taxis were charging $180 for the same trip. Lyft and Uber rides were at at least $180 and what really had people upset was that the 3 mile ride to the Enterprise Rental Car center was priced at $56. In any case we were to our car at about 11:30 and we’re leaving the city by noon.

We stopped only twice: Once for lunch and once for fuel which was much more expensive than the day we left on the trip. We made it to our grandson’s house where his other grandmother was with him. Our younger son met us there so he was already there. After some playing and talking we and our grandson and younger son went to the hospital to see the twins and visit with our son and daughter-in-law. We made it to the room where our son and his wife were with twin baby A. Baby B was in NICU being monitored due to some issues that needed monitoring. Both are eating well and things are mostly going well.

We were very happy to meet our two new granddaughters who are the two cutest twins in history. It’s hard to believe it has taken thousands of years to finally have the perfect pair brought into this world. We spent a few hours in the room and also visiting Twin B in NICU before David and our younger son went to get food for everyone. When they got back we all ate and after about another hour we headed back to the house.

At nearly 10:00 we left our grandson and his grandmother and made our way to the hotel. It had been a very long day so we were asleep pretty quickly.
