August 29 - September 5 Friday to Friday
We may be back but as far as time zones and physical adjustments we are anything but.
Our adjustment back to our timezone has been slow and tiring. We are playing catch up here as we have been mentally out of it and busy in between. So today there is only this synopsis.
Friday the 29th: A day to relax with our son and his family and try to start adjusting.
Saturday the 30th: Drove back to home base. Visited with David´s parents. A day for laundry and more adjusting and feeling tired.
Sunday the 31st: A morning at church and lunch somewhere. We spent a little more time with Davd´s parents and then a little with Amy´s dad. Amy was helping her dad work on his charity golf tournament he created many years ago. They had to work on some of the final details as the tournament draws closer.
Monday the 1st: Labor Day but nothing special going on really. We are finally starting to get back on schedule and feeling more normal. Today we worked on one of our basketball road trips. Our son´s team will be playing out in west Texas and western New Mexico the 18th and 20th of December. Heading out on Monday of that week will give us a chance to spend a couple of nights in Big Bend National Park before the team arrives in Alpine. We will spend one night in Alpine and then Friday and Saturday night in Silver City. David has been to Alpine once but neither of us have been to Big Bend National Park or Silver City, New Mexico. We will probably make a stop in El Paso along the way since David has passed through El Paso but has never stopped here. Amy has been to El Paso and also explored Juárez, Mexico just across the border.
Tuesday the 2nd: David´s brother will be out of town for a couple of days so we will be taking a more active role in their care giving. They are both in two separate nursing homes that are across town from each other. David´s mom is on a rehab assignment following her surgery from her hip injury. Why are they not in the same place? Well let us tell you....it´s a long story. And that´s all we have to say about that.
Wednesday the 3rd: Feeling much better today. Did some errand running and our parental visits. David talked to his previous boss who wanted him to come do some substitute bus driving Thursday and Friday. Seemed like a way to make a little money again. He spent the day getting paperwork completed so he could legally work for the school and get paid.

Thursday the 4th: David was up early to drive the AM bus routes. Afterwards he drove to a wooded area that has miles of trails and did his one hour walk. Amy had errands to run for getting the golf tournament in order and also fit in a doctor´s appointment for her yearly physical exam. After lunch David rested a bit and then drove his PM bus routes. The rest of the day was spent with David´s parents and getting some things together for our trip to
Amy´s sister´s house to stay with our niece and house and dog sit.
Friday the 5th: David was up early again to drive the AM bus routes. The transportation director told him they needed another bus driver for the football game tonight so he figured he would do that and make as much money as he could in these two days. Amy ended up getting a call to do a half day sub at the primary school so she did a little work as well. After the PM routes David drove to the high school to pick up the cheerleaders and their sponsor with whom he had worked with before retiring. This was about an hour and a half trip each was which is good since the longer the better if you want to make any decent money from an extracurricular trip. After the football game the cheerleaders were the first ones ready to go and David headed home. He had the bus put up and had clocked out by 11:30.

Forgive us for having to take a break from the writing every day but we were tired and it was a somewhat uneventful week.
