October 7, 2025 Tuesday

Tuesday was another beautiful day and we decided that we would use that to go to downtown Seattle and specifically Pike Place Market. We had wanted to go last time we were here but time just didn’t allow. We didn’t make any plans for visiting the city while we are here other than this trip. We tried to ride the light rail to downtown but we could not find a parking place at the train station so we opted for driving downtown and parking as close as we could get to the market.

We found a parking garage that was nearby and we had no problem parking and walking down the hill one block to the market. The parking coast is $27.47 which is high but the location was great. We spent about 3 hours at the market so that’s about $9 per hour. Besides, the parking wasn’t the worst part. The worst part was getting out of Seattle. Even though we thought we were leaving soon enough the traffic still caught us and made for an extra long ride back to the house.

At the market we browsed, had lunch, watched fish throwing, bought a book and finished off with a dozen donuts (4 plain, 4 cinnamon, 4 powdered). We did walk down to the waterfront where the big Ferris wheel is located and looked a round a bit. After a while we worked our way back up the hill and to our car. As stated before, getting out was as difficult as it gets to leave a city. We drove over Mercer Island to I-405 which turned out just as bad as getting on I-5. We did get some views of Ranier along the way but sitting in traffic was definitely not fun. Once we were off the 405 things were much better.

We spent the rest of the day taking care of the dogs and doing a little laundry and watching a little TV.

For dinner we made sandwiches instead of cooking anything. We had eaten fish, shrimp and livers for lunch which was a lot more fried food than we are accustomed to eating. A sandwich was a nice contrast.
