September 20 and 21, 2025 Saturday & Sunday
With everything finally packed up we began the long drive back to home base. On the way we stopped at Buc-ee’s for a break and some food to eat on the go.
We stopped at our younger son’s house for about an hour and then drove the remaining hour home. We did some unpacking and started doing some laundry. It was a little too late to visit David’s parents but we would catch up with them Sunday.
Sunday we went to church with Amy’s dad and step mom. Today’s after church meal was at McAlister’s. David’s brother joined us as well. As per usual Amy had the salad and sandwich combo while David had his Memphian.
We and David’s brother had talked about taking David’s dad to visit with mom at her nursing home. The idea originated with David’s brother but we all thought it was something to try. After all, he hasn’t seen her in about 4 weeks. At lunch we decided we would go ahead with the plan at about 2:30. Amy went to his mom’s place while David and his brother would go get his dad. He was ready to go when they got there and the transition to the car went well. They made the drive across town and got him in his wheelchair. We all met in the foyer area which is like a living room. We all had a nice visit with no issues which is not always the case. David’s brother was working nights tonight so they had to take their dad back so that David’s brother could get to work. We all agreed that this went far better than we had anticipated which gives us a little hope for things moving forward. We are not sure David’s mom will be able to go home again or not. If not, then there are some questions that have to be answered and some decisions that will need to be made.
We spent the remainder of the day finishing laundry and packing for both our stay with our grandson and for our trip to the northwest.
Reflecting on our sit for Amy’s sister:
We were at her house for 14 days.
Our spending was almost entirely for groceries, gas and dining.
Gas- $170
Groceries- $240
Dining- $310
Entertainment/Events- $65
TOTAL - $785 ($57 per day)
We will put together expenses for the entire month of September in the coming days.
