At 5:00 am the phone rang and it was our house sitting host. She had made the time change in the wrong direction. She apologized and told us we would reschedule. It was no big deal to us. David is one of those people can be wide awake at the drop of a pin.
Amy’s dad had told us that he was going to make pancakes this morning and he did before they left for their golf date.
David had gone to the park to walk and when he got home Amy told him that our THS host was going to call in about 30 minutes. Sounded good to us so we got our Whatsapp set up so we could do the face to face meeting. The call came and it was very simple to use the Whatsapp app. The hosts were very friendly. They were not concerned about our being from out of the country. They have used THS twice before and the sitters had come from Italy and Australia. That was good news we thought. We asked about the weather in January and they said ¨rain¨. That is probably why they are going someplace else. After some questions and answers and getting to know each other they concluded the meeting by telling us they had other candidates to talk to and that they would get back with us soon. After the call ended David made the comment that he wished we were better looking although we doubt that is a big factor. (We are not that bad.) So it was wait and see for now. We were a little anxious about whether they would choose us or not but figured it would be okay either way.
Amy’s dad and brother were back from the golf course after not too long of a time and we loaded up in two cars and drove to the local pizza restaurant. The restaurant closes at 1:00 pm (which is early) and we walked in at 12:45 pm. The employees told us that there would be no more pizza placed on the buffet but we could still eat if we wanted to do so. There was plenty of pizza under the warmers so we stayed and had salad and pizza.
David and Amy´s brother stayed at the house while they took their road trip to the cemetery. David had some things to work on and Amy’s brother just wasn’t interested.
A few hours later after their trip to the cemetery there was a new problem for us all to work on. Somehow in the mix of all the running around Amy’s dad had misplaced his false teeth. We had looked everywhere in the house, in the car and in the driveway with no luck. He was sure he had them in the car so we retraced his steps and decided we might have to go back to the cemetery thinking that maybe they were somehow drug out of the car when someone got out. We were grasping at straws to be sure.
A little later, much to our delight, we received the message from the THS hosts that they were offering us the sitting in January. We were excited and immediately accepted. This began the process of making plans for an over the pond trip to the UK. We began looking at airfare to Manchester with possible stops in London or Dublin. Without bags there were fares for round trips to London for about $1100 but we couldn´t see how we could do this trip without at least one checked bag. We would also like to choose our seats if at all possible. We needed to do a good bit of research before making any decisions.
Tonight David prepared Jambalaya for everyone. After making a meal of Jambalaya and French bread everyone watched TV except for David who went to the park to do his one hour walk followed by stretching and his 90 crunch workout. The evening was spent watching the TV and working on computers and phones. Amy´s dad and step mom decided to head home tomorrow after golf in order to get him fitted for a new set of teeth. We feel sure the teeth will turn up as soon as he gets the new ones. David thinks the dog took them and buried them in the backyard.
