Today is a half day in Salzburg and then we are off to Munich. After breakfast we stored our luggage and headed out on a walking tour of Salzburg. Our Czech tour guide escorted to Kurgarten where we met our two tour guides. They separated us into two groups of about 20 and we began our walking tour. The gardens here are a special treat for those who love the musical movie The Sound of Music. Several scenes were shot in and around the gardens so it was interesting to be standing in these iconic locations from the film. We visited the streets of the old town, Mozart´s Birhplace, and other local sites and the Mozartplatz where the tour ended.

The Fortress Hohensalzburg was not part of the tour so several of us decided to ride the funicular to the fortress and do a self guided tour of this impressive hilltop structure. We were not disappointed in our choice to visit the fortress. in fact we would have been unhappy with ourselves had we not decided to explore this experience. After we returned to street level we found a little street vendor and had a really delicious bratwurst on a baguette type bun. Most everyone met back at the Residenzplatz for the walk back to the hotel. Three of us, however, decided to take an Uber back so we could relax at the hotel before we had to board and head to Munich.

We arrived in Munich via the Isartor Gate and unloaded the bus right into a bike path which was not the best idea. We gathered our luggage and walked a couple of hundred yards to our hotel. The Hotel Concorde Munich would be our home for the next three nights. The hotel is a 4 minute walk to the Hogbrauhous and just a little further to most of the historic and interesting sights around the Marienplatz. We spent the evening exploring the Marienplatz and having dinner at Woerner´s, a sidewalk restaturant on the Marienplatz. our group, of about 10 which included our guide, had beers, schnitzel, goulash and other German classics. Afterwards we walked back to the hotel for some rest. Tomorrow morning we have another walking tour which we now know means a 10,000 step or more workout.
