January 3, 2026 Saturday

Today has been one for relaxing by the fire and not doing any major trips. When you are Wayfaring you have to have days to just live. You can’t look at each day like you are on vacation. We haven’t completed our monthly spending for December but hope to have it completed soon.

David was up early enough to cook some breakfast. Afterwards he fed the cat and the dog and then started a fire in the wood burning stove in the living room. We lounged around most of the middle of the day and finished off Stranger Things. We did some talking on the phone with family.

Walking into the building David walked the dog for about 30 minutes while it was still daylight. They walked to the nearby park. It was very cold with ice forming on the grass and there were snow pellets scattered around from a little precipitation that happened overnight. The dog seemed to really enjoy the outing.

After dark (4:00) David walked to the store for some sour cream while Amy cooked tacos. Old El Paso brand is available here just like it was in Germany. When David returned the taco meet was ready and Amy was cutting up some tomatoes. Salsa is a bit rare here but we bought a little as well as some Tobasco which is a more world wide item.

After dinner we watched tv while David kept the fire burning. We are in for some very cold days over the next week with lows between 23 and 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Snow is projected for Tuesday through Friday of this coming week. That could make things interesting as we approach our day to drive to Liverpool.

We made some train reservations for the 6th for our musical in Manchester. David bought a ticket for the soccer match tomorrow in Huddersfield. At least it is in the daytime. He is going to try to ride buses to and from the game.
