CHRISTMAS DAY

December 25, 2025 Thursday

We were up early as planned with everyone bustling about preparing for our Christmas get together. David’s brother went to get their mom and dad and got them there without incident. With David’s middle brother and his daughter’s family we had 10 people in all. We had the traditional meal for David’s parents: Turkey, dressing, baked beans, dumplings, green bean casserole, broccoli and rise casserole Mac and cheese, sweet potatoes and homemade rolls.

David and his brother took his parents back to the nursing center around 4:00. David’s brother had to go to work after that so the rest of us just hung around David’s parents house until around 7:00. we decided to go back to David’s brother‘s for the rest of the evening since their are better television choices.

Sometime after we and our younger son arrived at David’s brother’s house we got the call we had all been both expecting and dreading. Amy’s dad called to tell us that our niece had passed away late this afternoon. We are all saddened at the loss. Regardless of whether or not you know it’s coming you are still never ready for the end. The fact that it occurred on Christmas Day may seem even more sad but we choose to think of it as a way to always remember her.

The rest of the evening we watched Christmas movies and fielding athe occasional phone call. It seemed a good way to experience some of our traditions while we contemplated the events of the day. Around midnight our son returned to David’s parent’s house and we turned in as well. And Christmas was over.
