December 1, 2025 Monday

December begins with doing errands for our selves and some of our friends. In the morning David had a dermatologist appointment and afterwards we picked up prescriptions that were refilled while we were gone. Most of the middle part of the day was taken up with taking some friends to a town about 45 minutes away to pick up the police report from an accident they were in this past Friday night. At the wrecking yard we bagged up and move everything that was left in the car after the accident. We had some lunch afterwards and made it back home around 3:30.

Once we had dropped off our friends we drove downtown and purchased a new lift chair for David’s mom since her old one had stopped working. Our next stop was the nursing center to visit with David’s mom and dad. We visited with them until their dinner was served. From there we went by their house to pick up some winter jackets and coats we had stored there.

It will be below freezing over night so it was time to break out the heavier winter clothing.

The evening was spent watching a Disney Christmas special and other television shows before turning in around 11:30.

The UK and Ireland Trip:

We failed to mention that we took care of our ETA approval for travel to the UK. Since we were not completely sure about some of the border crossings we have on this trip we decided to go ahead and be prepared by having our ETA approvals.

We did this all on line via the app. It was a bit of a process with all the scanning and photos that have to be done just right. David’s photo took about six tries before one was accepted. The process requires you to have you passport in hand, take pics of passport, scan passport for chip, scan face for ID purposes, take pics of self and pay $21.80 for the administrative fees. We submitted and then a little later received our approval. The approval is good for travel in the UK for 2 years. The ETIAS for travel in many other European countries has been delayed until the fourth quarter of 2026. Ireland is not one of those countries and Ireland only requires passport and other information such as forward/return travel and adequate funds. We still have no idea what a good number is for adequate funds but we will be ready before we leave for Dublin.
