Wayfaring Day 149

November 25, 2025 Tuesday

We woke up early enough to get to our son’s team’s basketball game which was scheduled for 12:30. However, before we were completely ready to go we found out our other son was in the emergency room with what has been diagnosed as a kidney stone. So we made a change of plans. We drove to our older son’s house which is in the same direction and an hour closer. Our daughter-in-law had a doctors appointment so she found someone to watch our grandson while she was at the doctor and our son was in bed trying to get through his condition. We arrived at their house about 11:30 and before we could relieve the lady who was sitting with our grandson our daughter-in-law came through the door. She needed to do some work and rest some so we had our grandson eat some lunch before taking a field trip with him for the afternoon.

We all spent 3 hours at Kids Empire mostly building things out of the big mega blocks. He did plenty of running, climbing and sliding but seems to always end up doing his plastic block engineering. We get in and help some but there are usually other kids who want to build with him. It was very busy today with schools out for Thanksgiving. Almost all schools here take the entire week for the American holiday. Our grandson fell asleep on the car ride home which isn’t ideal since it was only 5:30.

A Note on Future Travel

Today we cancelled our trip to Big Bend scheduled for the second week in December. We feel we need to stay around for several reasons. We will miss getting to go to a place we have never enjoyed as well as missing the two basketball games. The basketball games were the impetus for the trip and Big Ben’s was the add on. It is disappointing to not make the trip but it will easily save us over $1000. We probably need to conserve some after our Caliutahrodo trip on which we feel we really overspent.
