November 24, 2025 Monday

Overnight storms were loud and intense waking us from time with nearby lightning strikes. The storms have moved on to the east and today is looking like a nice day with a high temperature of 71 degrees. This could possibly be the last day this year to see a temperature in the 70s here.

We started the day very lazily. Being in a place for less than pleasant circumstances seems to lend itself to lethargy. We are glad to be here and feel a very strong need to stay but we are still maintaining a fluid mentality especially with this being Thanksgiving week. David will have to be at home base sometime this week to sort out some financial issues with one of his parent’s bank accounts. We will just have to take it day by day. Our hope is to be at our grandson’s house on Thanksgiving day.

We spent the day sitting around with Amy’s sister and her daughter watching tv, having some lunch, keeping two of our nephew’s boys and taking care of a few things via phone. David’s mom has been in the hospital again and tonight is moving to the nursing facility where his dad is living. It is difficult to conjecture just how this situation will turn out. David spent time on the phone with his brother and several hours researching in preparation for our UK dog sitting gig. David has a knee issue and really needed to stay off his feet and elevate his knee today. This gave him some time to do some real digging into the Manchester/Leeds area. His things to do research was primarily geared to live theatre and live events we might be able to attend while there. He plans to contact our hosts for some advice and direction.

Maybe today was mostly a rest day but we probably needed it and we needed to be here. Our plan is to drive the six hours to home base tomorrow. We haven’t decided how early we will go. Our sons have basketball games tonight, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday so we want to make it to the ones we can. Saturday is the only day they both have games and we will most likely have to choose one. However, with some of the issues we have it may be ill advised to make any hard and fast plans.
