Carnival wants you out of your room by 8:30 and then it becomes hurry up and wait. We were out of the room and having breakfast by 8:20. The announcement had been made alerting everyone of delays in debarkation due to a medical emergency. We would be one of the last groups called so we settled in with some breakfast and prepared to wait patiently. After some time the announcement was made that all groups could disembark. So everyone was leaving the Lido deck for deck three at the same time. We sat around, as did many others, waiting for the lines at the elevators to diminish. Even after about 20 minutes of waiting we still had to wait at the elevators and wait in long lines to exit the boat and then to get to our luggage. Even so, the lines moved steadily and since we used our passports we were able to make our final exit with ease. The birth certificate line is usually much, much slower. We sat around checking Uber rates since we did not see any reason to get to our hotel too soon since it was several hours until check in. When the ride rate was down to $53 we requested a ride and had one very quickly. We had a great driver with a very nice and clean car. He had us to our hotel by about 11:20.

At the hotel we took care of check in procedures but were told our room would be ready after 1:30 which was a nice thing. We used the time waiting for a room to do some laundry and lounge around the pool. The washer and dryer are actually at the pool so it was very convenient. By the time we had our laundry finished it was almost 2:00. We checked with the front desk and they gave us our keys to our room. The Alamo Inn and Suites is one of the many independently owned motel/hotels located along Kattella Avenue along the south side of the Disney complex. We stayed at The Alpine Inn and the Castle Inn on our last two visits. All of these are an easy walk to the Disney Parks and Downtown Disney. Staying at a Disney property is what we consider cost prohibitive which means finding good properties walking distance to Disney. The Alamo Inn and Suites is a well kept and clean property and so far seems to be a very good choice.

Having unpacked and relaxed for a few minutes we walked over to Downtown Disney to find something to eat and do a little strolling and shopping. The walk was about 15 minutes from the hotel to the security gates. We opted for splitting a Pizza at Napolini Pizzaria. The sit down restaurants had long lines but it was easy getting a pizza at Napolini. Our next stop was the big Disney store where we actually bought a few things. From there we had Beignets while sitting on one of the concrete walls that surround the lush landscaping you find at most Disney properties. Once we had finished off the beignets we started thinking of heading back to the hotel. It was still early but we were tired. We stopped at the Star Wars Outpost which we always find interesting. We looked at everything but made no purchases. We decided to walk back via the Disneyland Hotel so that we could look in one of their shops and to walk by the Trader Sam’s. After passing Trader Sam’s we stopped and sat by the outdoor fire for a few minutes before walking back to the hotel. David walked to a nearby convenience store for a few drinks since our room has a refrigerator. The rest of the evening was spent relaxing and watching an old Sean Connery 007 Film on BBC.
