Wayfaring Day 125

November 2, 2025 Sunday

Today is David’s birthday. He is giving himself a cruise to Cabo San Lucas. We leave tomorrow and anticipate a relaxing and fun voyage.

This morning we woke to a foggy gloomy looking view. However, the sun came out later and made for a beautiful day in Long Beach. We caught the hotel shuttle to the Aquarium of the Pacific around 9:30. Our entry time was 10:30 which gave us time to walk around the harbor and the aquatic park beforehand.

This is a nice area for relaxing on a Sunday morning. It may be a little different on a weekday.

We entered this impressive aquarium and found our bearings using the map and guide. We also loaded the app so we could see show times and find our way around easier. There are multiple interactive exhibits for touching aquatic wildlife. There were many children at the aquarium and a huge contingent of scouts since it was scout day. Some areas were a bit crowded but we never felt uncomfortable as we walked through the exhibits. We walked through the Southern California section and then to the seal and otter show. The show was well done and both fun and informative. After that we made our way through the other wings of the building and watched a couple of other presentations, ending our time in the gift shop where we bought more than we had planned.

There are a string of restaurants nearby and we chose PF Changs for David’s birthday dinner. It was an afternoon dinner which meant we were easily seated without a reservation. The staff there were really great.

We left there and made a stop at Five Below for some items for the cruise and then a stop at Starbucks for a few snacks for later. The walk back to the aquarium was easy and gave us an opportunity to take a few more pics. We called for the hotel shuttle and it showed up in just a few minutes. Once back at the hotel we prepared our bags for the cruise and rested a bit.

We had a 5:00 phone call with our THS hosts so we set up things in our hotel room for the video call. The call went well and even though there was no formal confirmation it appears we have the gig. This sit is in May so we have some time before we get to this one.

This one has a cleaner transition so we will not be staying a night with the hosts on either end of the sit.
