This morning we were up and enjoying some time with our grandson. David got Griff’s for everyone for lunch around 11:30. We ate our burgers and got things ready for our departure. Our son and grandson accompanied us to the airport. They dropped us off at about 2:45 which was a bit early but we wanted to make sure we didn’t have to hurry with checking bags and going through security. We both have TSA precheck and had no problems getting through security. We sat at the gate and rested and bought a drink to take with us on the flight. We checked two bags but the third bag ended up being a carry on. The problem is that we have not determined how to get Amy’s free checked bags via her credit card. We will try to figure it out before the next flight.

We arrived at LAX right on time. The baggage claim was in another terminal making it necessary to ride a bus to the other terminal. By the time we reached the baggage claim our two bags were at the baggage stand waiting for us. We had not hurried to the buses so we caught later buses which put us behind most of the folks on our flight. We found the ride share bus pick up area and got ourselves and our bags onboard. We have been here not too long ago and experienced this before so we knew the procedure. We got ourselves and our stuff off the bus and found our way to a pick up area and in a few minutes had our Uber. The Uber driver had us to the hotel in about 20 minutes with no problems. One note on Uber at LAX: We wonder if you can just get picked up at the terminal without having to take the bus to the rideshare area. We doubt drivers are supposed to do that but it seemed there were people doing this at the ground transportation area. Another issue was that when we looked at Uber before getting on the bus the price was around $66. But when we reached the rideshare area the price was about $10 more. That really made us wonder about getting picked up at the terminal.

Another thing that is starting to feel wrong is that the Uber rides are costing more than the airfare. We are getting great airfares but these ride shares are getting very expensive.

We are staying at the Hilton Long Beach not far from the cruise terminal. This is a nice Hilton with views of the harbor from our room. After getting our things to the room we watched the World Series. When it went to extra innings we went down to the bar to get a pizza and drinks while we watched the game. The Dodgers ended up winning and the bar area went crazy for a little while. We watched some of the post game festivities and then headed back to the room to turn in after a long day of travel.
