October 25, 2025 Saturday

Today we drive the two hour drive that turned into three. Traffic was very slow and go and stop and go between stretches of driving near the speed limit.

Going into the city was also crazy with the Dio de las Muertos festivities, conventions and of course the Paul McCartney concert.

We made it to the hotel and were checked in fairly quickly. It was somewhat chaotic around the hotel but that is as expected. We have a 5th floor room with a balcony overlooking The Riverwalk. We sat on the balcony for a little while and then went down to the Riverwalk to find some dinner. We ate at Casa Rio at a table right on the water. We had fajitas and some drinks and then took the short walk back to the Palacio Del Rio. Staying here is one of David’s “bucket list” items.

We changed clothes and started the walk over to the venue about 30 minutes before doors. The walk over was more challenging than we expected due to the crowds at the Día de las Muertos Festival that we walked through. It was an interesting walk but very slow. Even so, we were at the security station before doors. We passed through security quickly and then we found a line to show our tickets. This meant we were still outside the venue but within the barriers with the crowd waiting for the doors to open. Doors opened at about 6:15 and the crowd poured into the stadium filling the corridors and stairways. We were in the upper deck so we had to climb quite a few stairs.

Oddly we met some people we know from one of the places where we worked and talked with them for several minutes. We had plenty of time. We bought something to drink and found our seats with an hour until “scheduled” show time. Also interestingly enough the people sitting next to us were originally from the same area where we are doing our next dog sitting in the UK. They gave us some helpful pointers and some suggestions of places to see when we are there.

8:00 rolled around but as expected the show did not start. The show started at about 8:20 with McCartney opening the show with the song HELP. He played for almost three hours without a break other than talking with the crowd. The show was awesome and the 83 year old McCartney was incredible.

The walk back to the hotel was slow due to such a large crowd heading toward the Riverwalk. We were back to our room at about midnight and to bed by about 1:00

THS NEWS:

We applied for another sit and the host wants to meet with us to see if we both like the arrangement. This one is for May and is in the area near our son and his wife. We thought we could use this sit to be close to them and the grandkids and it would give us an opportunity to house shop in the area. We think we may move to the area in June or July. This may end our wayfaring but they are going to need all the help they can get for the foreseeable future.
