The temp this morning was up to 80 before lunch time but rain was on the way. Our grandson had a birthday party to attend so he and his parents were off this morning to the party. For us it was an uneventful but enjoyable morning. The rain started right at noon and it came down heavy for a little while. Our party crew made it back home around 1:30. We played some improvised soccer for a while and then switched to airplanes.

Later in the evening we kept our grandson while his mom and dad went to a wedding. That meant a trip to McDonalds for chicken nuggets and playing in the obstacle play place. He was the only kid there so he had the whole play place to himself. He ate very well and played pretty hard. We stopped by Walmart to buy a small cake for Mimi’s birthday. We played at home a little bit and at about 8:30 he had his bath. Around 9:00 his mom and dad were home and it wasn’t long until bed.

Today we made some travel arrangements for the trip to LA, Salt Lake and Denver. We bought our 2 day Disneyland tickets and reserved our dates for each park. We also decided to rent a car for the day between the parks in order to go to The Getty. That is something we have wanted to do in the past but have never had the time for. Renting a car was far less expensive than using transit and ride shares. We can walk to the car rental location from our hotel and renting for the day should give us plenty of time to visit The Getty and get back at a reasonable time. We don’t have any other plans with the rental car but if we have time after The Getty we might make a stop on the way back. On our last two trips to LA we did Hollywood, Venice Beach and The Hollywood Bowl so we doubt we would take any time for any of those places again. We also reserved a car for the Denver portion of the trip since we will need to get around quite a bit and once our daughter-in-law and grandson get there we will have to have a place for his car seat.
This rental can be cancelled and requires no payment until we set to Denver so we have flexibility should things change. We still are not sure about renting a vehicle in Salt Lake but we may try one of the cheaper companies just to see how it goes. We will only be in Salt Lake a few days.
The prices for the rental cars are as follows:
Anaheim (Avis) $49.44 for midsize
Salt Lake starting at $111.00 for 4 days (not booked)
Denver (Enterprise) $440.89 for Minivan
We like Enterprise but sometimes they are just too expensive even compared with the other mainstream companies. The cheap companies were almost $200 cheaper but we don’t want to take any chances while we are in Denver. But, that might change.
The Disney tickets are the one expense that is harder to justify. We purchased 2 day tickets with Lightning Lane which cost us $806.
