October 15, 2025 Wednesday

Our final full day in Washington. Tomorrow we fly home.

This morning there was a frost with temperatures around 33 degrees. David was up early to do one last bit of hiking before our stay ends. It was cold and foggy on the drive to Lord Hill Regional Park. At the beginning of the hike David was feeling the cold but after a while that faded. He spent about two hours hiking some of the many trails in this large lush park. This was a longer hike than he had planned but he wanted to at least hike a few areas of the park.

Amy got up and took care of the dogs and their morning routines. When David returned he immediately went out to play ball with the dogs. Afterwards he cooked a large omelet and we had a late breakfast.

Most of the day was spent getting the house in shape for the return of our hosts. Hopefully we did a good job with the dogs and with taking care of the house. David spent some time cleaning the car and getting it filled with gas. In the afternoon we cleaned bathrooms, kitchen, floors, carpet and back patio. We want things to be satisfactory or better on our first gig with THS.

We had the dogs cleaned up and in the house early so that we could do the cleaning. We cooked an apple pie and some steaks in an attempt to finish off some of the food we purchased. We got everything together in our bedroom other than what we have in the bathroom to use tomorrow morning.

Our flight is due out tomorrow at about 5:15 and our host will take us over at about 3:00 or maybe a little earlier. It’s been an interesting, educational and enjoyable experience but it is almost over. We will miss our doggies but look forward to seeing our grandson when we get back to the city.
