August 6, 2025 Wednesday

Amy is headed to home base to go to a sewing group workshop. David is staying with our grandson for the next couple of days to help out mom and dad. David took or grandson out for an outing to play games and go to ¨Chicken Donalds¨ as he calls it. Unfortunately he began to fill bad and they had to go home a little earlier than planned. They spent the rest of the day playing and watching some Bluey and Paw Patrol among other things.

Later that day we had a surprise notification from THS. The message was not from a host with whom we had applied with, but from a host whose listing we had favorited. We were not aware that it was possible for hosts to initiate the conversation but in retrospect that seems somewhat obvious. The hosts wanted to set up a zoom meeting so that we could get to know each other and see if we were a good fit. With Amy and David in two different places the zoom meeting would have to be a three way meeting. Of course we agreed and a time for Thursday was set up for the zoom meeting. We read through the listing again just to familiarize ourselves with the sitting. We were excited about the opportunity but also anxious about whether or not they would be willing to let us sit for them. The location was near Seattle in an area we have visited some in the past and that we really enjoy. Now it was just a matter of meeting with the hosts to learn more about how this whole thing worked.

We began looking at the logistics involved in doing the sitting. Making sure we were there early enough to begin the sit on time is an important consideration. The plan as we saw it is to arrive a day or so early and day or two after the sit. You need to consider the possibility of delays in you getting there as well as possible delays on the part of the hosts at the end of the sit. We looked at several airline and airport possibilities with a leaning toward ways we could use our new Frontier accounts. As it turns out, Frontier flies to Everett which is on the north side of Seattle and much closer to where our sitting will occur if things go well tomorrow. We will discuss some of the details with the hosts and see what suggestions they have for us as far as travel goes. Now we wait.
