August 5, 2025 Tuesday

David drove to our son´s house this morning to spend the day with the family and then go to a show with Amy. Tonight we have tickets to Life of Pi which is part of the package we purchased as season ticket holders here in the city. During the day we worked on trying to apply for house sitting jobs but so far only rejection. Maybe this isn´t such a great idea after all. It may be difficult to get an offer without experience with sittings on the app. Or maybe we just don´t have the right stuff to get an opportunity with some of the out of state and out of country hosts. We will keep trying.

We had a fun day with our grandson and then got dressed for the show.

It was an usual evening all around. We almost missed the start of the show because we first headed to the wrong venue. Then at intermission of the show the fire alarm sounded and the building had to be evacuated. Many patrons went home but we stayed nearby to see if they would continue the show. After about 45 minutes the decision was made to continue the show. Everyone who had stayed went back in for the second act of this somewhat graphic play. We were happy we were able to see the entire show and pleased with the actors for going on with the show.

Afterwards we have a tradition of going to our favorite pizza place which is always open late. Amy had the Canadian bacon and pineapple while David had the meats pizza. The weather was reasonable enough for us to eat outside on the sidewalk. We may stand out a little due to our slightly dressy clothes and to a greater extent the fact that we are usually much older than anyone else there, but we don´t mind and the employees there are always friendly with us. We went through the restaurant and out the back door (we always park in the back) to our car to make our way back to our son´s house. It was a little later getting in than usually due to the evacuation but we didn´t really mind so much.
