Wayfaring Day 257

March 14, 2026 Saturday

This morning was spent playing and visiting with our grandson and with his parents to a lesser extent. We will not be back here for 23 days at which time he will be 5 years old and the big brother of twin sisters. It’s a bitter sweet day to have to say goodbye and then get on to one of our biggest Wayfaring trips of our lifetime.

We ordered pizza for lunch and then hung around afterward until about 2:00. A little after 2:00 we headed to our younger son’s house to check on the cats on our way home. He will be back tomorrow sometime. This year he is the only family member going to the boys state basketball tournament. This is indeed a sad year as far as that is concerned but we are pledging a return in 2027 when we will take our grandson to his first state tournament.

We made it to our younger son’s house around 4:00 after hitting slow traffic and taking a longer route to get there. We made sure the cats were fed and watered and cleaned up the litter boxes before we headed on to home base. It’s a beautiful day with a temperature of near 80 degrees. We played baseball in the backyard before leaving our grandson but the rest of the day was mostly spent driving until we reached home base.

At home base we immediately got to our packing and some laundry. David got us checked in for the flights and checked on some of our excursions/tours. He had a call this morning about the tour at the Sagrada Família changing to 30 minutes later which is fine. We do Park Guell later in the day but there is plenty of time. Right now our only concern is the one hour connection in Frankfurt. That’s pretty tight for entry into Germany and then making the boarding time which is even earlier. Presently the gates are not too far apart so hopefully they will stay that way.

We went to David’s mother’s at around 7:45 and stayed there with her until about 9:30. Then we went back to the house to finish up. Once everything was together we went to bed with plans to get away at 8:00 am. We should get to our parking place by noon and then have plenty of time for any eventually that might delay us before our 5:30 departure.
