Wayfaring Day 256

March 23, 2026 Friday

This morning we made preparations to visit our older son and his family. We left the house around 10:45 and were near our grandson’s preschool at around 1:15. We had burgers, fries and onion rings at a little burger place near the preschool and then drove by a store to grab our grandson some snacks. Since we didn’t go by his house we had no snacks for after school. Soon after 2:00 we were at his classroom door and getting him and his things out of his class. There were more than the usual goodbyes since today they begin their Spring Break. As is our habit we then watched him play with other preschool kids on the playground until about 3:00. At that point we loaded everything up in the car and headed to our older son’s house which is 15-20 minutes away depending on traffic. On the way we took a quick look at a house that is for rent in our son’s neighborhood. We just pulled in the driveway to see it and then pulled away. It is a pretty nice place that has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. The rent is $2000 a month which is very reasonable around this area.

After getting home we played a while and then had our grandson open a bag with some things for Easter. Since we will not be here until sometime in the evening on Easter Sunday we went ahead gave him a few goodies. He was born on Easter Sunday as well so there will be some birthday partying to do when we get back as well. So with his birthday being the 4th and this year Easter being on the 5th and with twins having a due date of the 3rd it should be a very interesting Easter weekend.

We spent the evening with our grandson so that his mom and dad could go out for a nice dinner while they can and while we are in town. We had some chicken strips, rolls and some sides for dinner. After watching some Camp Cretatious and playing in the game room it was time to get our grandson in his PJs and ready for bed. He picked out a couple of books to read with his Mimi before going to bed. David let them do their special time together while sitting with the dog and watching NCAA conference tournament games.

Our son and his wife got home around 11:15 and after a little while we all turned in for the night. We plan to stay until lunch tomorrow and then go back to home base to finish packing.
