March 11, 2026 Wednesday

This morning was all about packing. We had most everything washed and ready to pack. We packed our zip up bags that compress our clothes into these really dense bags. After getting most of the packing done Amy put things in two pieces of luggage with one primarily for the cruise portion of the trip. We will only have the two checked bags and they are not big bags. These bags are the type that meet most of the European guidelines for checked bags. We have really worked on packing lighter and it seems we have this trip under control. These trips with two parts and one of those parts being a cruise are especially challenging. We plan to wash clothes before getting on the ship and luckily there are several laundry facilities near our hotel in Barcelona.

While we were packing the imaging center called to schedule an MRI for David’s knee. Surprising they could do the MRI tomorrow so David will do that tomorrow morning at 10:30.

In the afternoon we took David’s mom to visit with his dad. It was a stormy day so we waited for the rain to become light before taking her to the nursing center. We stayed with them the entire time and after a couple of hours found a break in the weather to take her back home.

Tonight we grilled steaks and cooked some mixed vegetables and croissants for dinner. After dinner David’s brother hung around while we went back to the house At about 9:00 David’s brother came in and said his mom had already gone to bed. That meant not having to go over around 10:00 to help her get to bed which is unusual.
