February 22, 2026 Sunday

This morning we watched the Olympic hockey game where the men’s US team played Canada for the Gold Medal in Milan, Italy. The US won in overtime which was fun. It was the first gold in men’s ice hockey since The Miracle on Ice in 1980. We were a junior and freshman in high school so that was a really long time ago.

After checking out of the hotel we stopped at a Dollar Tree for some gift bags for the baby shower. Then we drove around the area looking at homes for sale or rent just to see how they looked in person and to see what the neighborhood was like. At about 12:00 we picked up our grandson and took him to eat at Chicken Donald’s. Our daughter-in-law wanted us to be back around 1:00 so that they could finish up getting ready for the shower. Our grandson had a birthday party to attend at 2:00 so after about 40 minutes back at the house David and our older son took him to the party. The showers was from 2:00 to 4:00 which was basically the same timeframe as the kids birthday party. We were all back at the house around 4:10 as the shower was winding down and people were beginning to leave. The whole house was inundated with pink. There was food left over which was nice for a snack.

Amy left the shower with her sister to go to a sewing retreat for a few days. David hung out with our grandson until about 7:30 and then made the two hour drive back to home base. He made it to his mother’s around 10:30 and helped her get to bed and settled in before going to the house and unpacking.
