July 21, 2025 Monday

Amy has headed back to our son’s house for the week. She will be taking our grandson to Great Wolf Lodge to meet up with several family members from her side of the family. She checked on the cats on her way back and tried to time her trip to miss the heavy Sunday evening traffic going back into the city.

Today is the final day for David and our son to visit Disney. Today they will spend half the day at Epcot and then it is on to Tampa Bay for the Rays game.

We started the day by taking our luggage down and having it stored for later. We are using our final day at Epcot where we had plans to ride Guardians again and also experience Space 220 for the first time. We had things timed out pretty well until we walked by Test Track and saw that it was open. The official opening date is for tomorrow but they sometimes open rides early as a sort of soft opening. We were right at our Space 220 Lounge reservation time but we really wanted to get in line for Test Track. We decided to go to Space 220 and see if we could move our time back. We had doubts we could alter our reservation but they did so as if it were no problem at all. We immediately headed to the line for Test Track which was posted as a 30 minute wait. Interestingly the wait time or even the fact that the ride was operating never did appear on the Disney app. We were able to experience the newly themed Test Track and then go to our Space 220 Lounge engagement.

Space 220 was a cool experience although I’m not sure the math adds up for the journey to the venue. We had a couple of drinks and a couple of small plates and sat and soaked up the atmosphere before heading back down to earth. We did a couple of more last minute things such as buying Japanese candy and French ice cream and then headed to the exit. We had the Disney car rental shuttle picking us up at Epcot to take us to the car rental at Magic Kingdom. The shuttle was there soon and the driver was very friendly as she zipped us over to the car rental station. There is a car rental location just outside the Magic Kingdom parking lot. We had rented a very small, cheap car for our drive to Tampa but upon arrival they gave us a BMW instead. After picking up our luggage from the resort we drove to Tampa, checked into the hotel and rested a bit before heading to the game.

The game was at the Yankees minor league park which, like our hotel, is very near the Tampa airport. It was odd going to a MLB game at a minor league stadium. The seats we had were good since they all are. Oddly, it seemed there were as many White Sox fans in attendance as Rays fans. After the game we went back to the hotel and got some shut-eye.
